What to Expect During a Reiki Session
The person receiving Reiki lays fully clothed on a massage table. The practitioner holds her hands on or above the client. The healing energy comes thru the Reiki Practitioner's hands. The Practitioner works through a sequence of hand positions. The client’s body then draws the amount of energy that is required for healing. Reiki is different for everyone, the energy is drawn in at different rates and amounts. Most clients enter a deeply relaxed state of mind. Clients have also been known to have felt a coldness, pulsating heat, or a tingling sensation during a session. Reiki penetrates through the clothing, linens, and wood of the table. Reiki is a noninvasive tool
to help the healing process.
Reiki is cumulative and even people who don't notice much the first time, usually have progressively deeper experiences if they continue. Besides the immediate experience of the Reiki, you may notice other changes that continue to unfold as the day goes on: perhaps stronger digestion, a sense of being more centered and poised and less reactive, and sleeping deeply that night.
Because Reiki is cumulative it has been traditionally set to have sessions in 3 consecutive days but, in todays world it is not always convenient. For those new to Reiki, Practitioners suggest to have 3 sessions with no more than a week between to elevate and balance the energies.
What to Expect After Your Reiki Session
In some people, chronic or acute pain can decrease or completely vanish. For others, allergies and other infirmities disappear. Having said this, also consider that many troublesome conditions were not created overnight. While it may happen, don't expect a recovery overnight. Instead, you may need a series of Reiki sessions. Healing takes time and effort.
